MANCHESTER, NH – Two years after city police moved into new state-of-the-art digs on Valley Street, the abandoned former police HQ on Chestnut Street still languishes.
And another interesting debate has surfaced in the ongoing discussion of what to do with the million-dollar property, currently advertised as an office building/redevelopment opportunity by Stebbins Commercial Properties.
As reported by the NH Union Leader, Alderman Jim Roy has raised the question of safety, should the building be used for storage.
“The concern here is a box truck can carry a lot of material that can do a lot of damage,” Roy said during a recent planning board meeting.
Roy explained that given the building’s location, next to the courthouse, the Central Fire Station and a federal building the potential for a “trifecta” of terror exists, the Union Leader reports.
