MANCHESTER, NH — A look at the week ahead:


MONDAY

Columbus Day will be observed on Oct. 10 which means schools and city offices are closed, as well as the City Library.

TUESDAY

Road construction will begin in the following areas on October 11, 2016.  Motorists are advised to seek alternate route to avoid delays.

  • Myrtle Street (Oak to Belmont)
  • Beech Street (Orange to Pearl)
  • Manchester Street (Union to Maple)

Motorists are advised to seek alternate route to avoid delays.


The Committee on Public Safety will meet at 5 p.m. at City Hall. The sole agenda item is to address traffic concerns on President Road near the new Wal-Mart.

THURSDAY

Manchester Community Market at Victory Park – just two more weeks to connect with local farmers and vendors for fresh produce, meats, cheeses, honey and more.


FRIDAY & SATURDAY

Fall Clean-up day at Wagner Park 1-4 p.m., 242 Myrtle St. Come and join the Friends of Wagner Park and the Manchester Young Professionals Network for the park’s fall cleanup! You’ll assist with a variety of tasks, including weeding, collecting trash, and possibly removing vandalism where applicable. Equipment, rakes, trash bags, etc. will be provided, along with bottled water.


Over the Edge! October 14 at Brady Sullivan Plaza in Manchester (1000 Elm Street) American Cancer Society has organized this event for adrenaline enthusiasts to come together to fight cancer by raising money for rappelling down one of Manchester’s tallest buildings.

37th annual Ski Swap at McIntyre Ski Area – Two day event, Oct. 14 & 15.


The story behind the story of the Palace Theatre’s Centennial – $8. Join Richard Hatin as he discusses the research and development of the Palace Theatre‘s Centennial Publication on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at  10:30 a.m., at the Millyard Museum.


SUNDAY 

Empty Bowls: The 14th annual Empty Bowls fundraiser is Sunday, October 18th at the Brookside Congregational Church, 2013 Elm Street in Manchester from 11:30 am – 1:30 pm. Sponsored by the NH Potters Guild, the event raises money for New Horizons for New Hampshire. Click here for more information.
