CONCORD, NH – On June 21 the Governor and Executive Council approved a request for a special election for Ward 8 (District 19) in Manchester to elect a state representative. Approved candidates will be placed on the ballot for the primary election, set for September 19, 2017, and the top candidates will then be placed on the general election ballot on Nov. 7, Election Day.

The special election is being held to fill the seat  held by State Rep. Steve Vaillancourt, who died suddenly on March 27, 2017.

If you are interested, you have until June 30 to make it official. 

Filing Period:  June 26-30, 2017.  Candidates may file with the City Clerk during normal business hours on Monday, June 26 or Tuesday, June 27, or candidates may file with the Secretary of State’s Office from Monday June 26 through Friday, June 30. 

Filings made on the last day (June 30) must be made in person by the candidate at the Secretary of State’s Office.

Primary:  September 19, 2017

Election Day: November 7, 2017
