Wanted man spotted, chased down by police on Spruce Street

MANCHESTER, NH – A city man with a criminal past who was wanted by Manchester Police  on an electronic bench warrant was arrested early Tuesday morning after a brief foot chase.

Officer Robert Bifsha spotted John Keeley, 36, of Manchester, walking near Beech and Spruce streets at approximately 1:15 a.m. on Sept. 26. Officer Bifsha advised additional units that Keeley was heading toward Spruce Street.

A two-man unit working in the immediate area spotted Keeley walking east on Spruce Street. They identified themselves and ordered him to stop. Instead, Keeley turned around and fled in the opposite direction toward 214 Spruce St. Officers John Connors and Matthew O’Connor gave chase and caught him Keeley in the alley behind the aforementioned address. Keeley was taken into custody and transported to police headquarters.

Keeley was charged resisting arrest/detention and the electronic bench warrant. He is scheduled to appear in the 9th District Court-Manchester on September 26, 2017.
