Victims identified in Weare drowning

CONCORD, NH – Marine Patrol investigators have released the name of the victims in the July 30 drowning incident in Weare.

Mary Horgan, 59, of Merrimack was paddle boarding with Austin Dean, 59, of Merrimack, on Everett Lake in Weare when Horgan reportedly fell from the board and was face down in the water. Mr. Dean went to her rescue and while attempting to assist Horgan, he drowned.

Autopsy results determined Dean’s cause of death to be drowning while Horgan’s cause of death is pending further investigation. Foul play has been ruled out at this time.
