CONCORD, NH – A woman who perished in a car fire on Nov. 27, 2017 has been identified as Nawal G. Mohamed Hamd, 38, of Manchester.

According Christopher Wyman, an investigator for the NH State Fire Marshal’s office, Ms. Mohamed Hamd was driving southbound on I-93 just north of Exit 5 in Londonderry when her car left the roadway and ignited.

“We don’t know the circumstances that led to the fire,” Wyman said Tuesday. “There were not a lot of witnesses to the actual moments leading up to the incident.”

At least one motorist attempted to gain access to the vehicle, but was unable to do get to Ms. Mohamed Hamd due to the intensity of the fire, Wyman said. A responding State Trooper also was unable to intervene before the car was engulfed.

Her vehicle, a 2007 GMC Acadia, was parked 30 feet from the roadway at about a 90-degree angle to the highway in the tree line when first responders arrived. Motorists at the time told police the car was on fire moments after it left the roadway.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by NH State Fire Marshals and NH State Police Troop B.
