MANCHESTER, NH – An updated Winter Storm Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service for Cheshire, Eastern Hillsborough, Western/Central Hillsborough counties, including Jaffrey, Keene, Manchester, Nashua, Peterborough and Weare:

Snow accumulation of 12-18 inches over a 48-hour period beginning late Saturday night and ending late Monday night. Light snow will begin Feb. 7 and continue without much break until Feb. 9 with the heaviest snow expected Sunday night, Feb. 8 into Monday.

Roads will become snow-covered and slippery, and the added snow will add weight to any already snow-covered roofs. More snow accumulation on snow banks will impede visibility for motorists entering roadways.

The Storm Warning is in effect from Sunday at midnight until late Monday night.

The unofficial translation is that lots more snow is coming, and it’s only the beginning of February, so hunker down, man up, prepare yourselves, count your blessings if you have plenty of food and reliable shelter and heating fuel. Remember those who may need an assist with shoveling or transportation. Don’t lose heart; this, too, will pass.
