UPDATE: Shelter in place lifted after stand-off in Hooksett

UPDATE: 4:30 p.m. – Hooksett Police have lifted the shelter in place which they initiated Wednesday afternoon, amid police activity in the area of Dundee Avenue. All roads are now open. 

A press release will be forthcoming with more information about what transpired on Dundee Avenue, police said.


HOOKSETT, NH – We’re following a police situation on Dundee Avenue in Hooksett that is currently an active scene.

At 12:45 p.m. Hooksett Police issued the following alert:

“Please be advised that the area around Dundee Avenue is currently on lockdown and Hooksett Police requests that any residents still in the area to shelter in place, preferably a basement. The following roads are closed: Dundee Avenue, Granite Street, Highland Avenue, Chase Street.”It is an isolated incident that has been contained.”

As of 2 p.m., police announced Merrimack Street at Dundee Avenue, and Merrimack Street at Granite Street were closed.

No other details were immediately available.

A helicopter was seen flying over the area, and several marked and unmarked police cruisers were at the scene, as well as an ambulance. 

As of 2:15 p.m. a brief update was issued, stating that the incident is “isolated,” and has been contained.
