Saint Anselm outshot the Cadets, 22-18, but the visitors scored goals on three of its first six shots on net.

The Hawks also didn’t help themselves in the penalty department either, finishing with 23 minutes in the box in total.

The Hawks will remain at Sullivan Arena for their next contest as they host Post on Friday, Oct. 25 at 4 p.m. in a New England Women’s Hockey Alliance tilt.

Women’s Volleyball

The Hawks couldn’t find their way at home, falling in four sets to Stonehill.

Junior Elise Jolly (Merrimack, N.H.) had 16 kills and only two attacking errors, a big part of Saint Anselm finishing almost even in hitting percentage with Stonehill.

Senior Catie McCarthy also contributed 12 kills and senior Madison Sollows (Barnstable, Mass.) finished the day with exactly 750 kills and 300 digs in her career.

Saint Anselm falls to 4-2 on the season against Northeast-10 Conference opponents and to 14-8 overall. The Hawks head to Assumption on Tuesday, Oct. 29 for a 6 p.m. showdown with the Greyhounds.

Women’s Soccer

After blanking Pace on Saturday, Saint Anselm is now ranked ninth in the United Soccer Coaches East Region Coaches’ Poll.

Now at 7-2-4 overall on the season, this marks the first time that the Hawks have reached the top ten since October 1, when they were ninth.

Senior Sophie Smith (Kingston, N.H.) and freshman Megan Nguyen (Dudley, Mass.) also earned honors as Northeast-10 Defensive Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week, respectively.

Saint Anselm has won two of the four weekly awards for the first time since Oct. 22, 2012. Smith was the first Hawks student-athlete to have been selected as the NE10’s Defensive Player of the Week since Meredith Martin ’15 receiving the award on Sept. 29, 2014.

The Hawks return to Melucci Field on Saturday, Oct. 26 at 2 p.m. with a match up against Southern Connecticut State. Before the match, the Hawks will honor six seniors as part of Senior Day.
