Transgender inmate reported missing from minimum security facility

CONCORD, N.H. – On Friday evening, the New Hampshire Department of Corrections reported that a minimum-security resident of the North End Transitional Housing Unit in Concord failed to return home as scheduled on Wednesday, Nov. 27.

Shaun Cook, 41, was placed on “escape” status just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday.

Cook has been imprisoned since 2014 for an incident in Boscawen. According to the Concord Monitor, Cook came out as a transgender individual approximately two years after being incarcerated.

Cook prefers female pronouns and will also go by the first name Summer, although this is not her legal name.

She is 5’8 and 179 pounds.

Her current sentence runs until no later than April 9, 2024.

Anyone with information on Cook’s whereabouts is asked to call the New Hampshire Department of Corrections Investigation Bureau at 603-271-1860, New Hampshire State Police or local police in the town or city where they spot Cook.
