UPDATE: 10:30 a.m. According to Jay Davini, Chief of Street Operations for the city, the Thursday morning work that snarled traffic at Bridge and Mammoth was a temporary repair of pavement in anticipation of next week’s repaving along Mammoth Road.

Road resurfacing along Mammoth Road up to Derryfield Court begins Aug. 4.

“That was just a small job and a temporary delay. Crews were out at 4:30 a.m. and by 8 a.m. they were wrapping up,” said Davini. “Mammoth Road paving is the big project, which will start at Bridge Street and go up to Derryfield Court starting August 4. That section will take us a few days,” Divini said.

Also on the schedule for next week:

  • Road repairs between Hanover and Bridge, which will likely happened toward the end of next week;
  • A patch job at Bridge and Buzzell Aug. 4 that will reduce traffic to one lane in each direction for a short time and will create a “tough” traffic situation on Bridge Street. Regular commuters should seek alternate routes during road work.

According to the city website, more construction is set to begin Aug. 1 at the other end of Wellington Road, at Bypass 28.

We’re waiting for a call back from NH DOT as to how long this disruption will last. In the meantime, best to avoid the intersection. We’ll update you as soon as we have some news.
