Day of fun and learning: National Summer Learning Day kicks off July 12 at Gossler Park

MANCHESTER, NH — Dr. Bolgen Vargas will join community leaders from around the city to kick-off Manchester’s Summer Learning Day events at Gossler Park Elementary School, 145 Park Side Ave., on July 12 at 9:30 a.m.

Confirmed guests include the NH Deputy Commissioner of Education, the CEOs of the Granite YMCA and Boys & Girls Club of Manchester, Manchester Parks & Recreation, the Children’s Literacy Foundation, SEE Science Center, children attending summer programs, and others.

The Summer Learning Day full schedule of public activities is available online at bookedforsummer.mansd.org. All children and families are welcome to attend all of them throughout the day.

National Summer Learning Day – Kick-Off:  9:30 AM Gossler Park School  145 Parkside Ave Manchester, NH 03102

Massabesic Audubon Center:  9 AM – 5 PM  Walk the trails and check out the animals.

Gossler Park: 9 AM  Join the Children’s Literacy Foundation for a FUN and INTERACTIVE storytelling for both children and parents. Every child in attendance will get to choose TWO NEW BOOKS to take home and keep!

Bakersville Bulldog Bookmobile: 9 – 10 AM & 12 PM – 1 PM Elmwood Gardens,  At Bakersville School 10:15 – 11:45 AM.

Amoskeag Fishways – Family Adventures – Ponding:  9:30 AM  – 12 PM  $10 Put on your boots and go exploring.  Meet at Fishways and caravan to the local destination  Pre-registration is required (603) 626 FISH

Green Acres Elementary School: 10 AM Read aloud with Miss New Hampshire Marisa Moorhouse

Manchester Historic Association – Millyard Museum: 10 – 4 PM Free admission for any child under 18.  Self guided craft for children to do.

Visit the Bookmobile:  10:30 AM – 12 PM  Southside Middle School 140 S. Jewett Street Manchester, NH 03103   Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains will be doing a space-themed craft with children.

Instruments Around the World:  11AM – 12PM  Library – Main Branch Winchell Room

Parker-Varney: 11 AM Join Children’s Literacy Foundation for a FUN and INTERACTIVE storytelling for both children and parents. Every child in attendance will get to choose TWO NEW BOOKS to take home and keep!

Collaborative Storytelling, Poetry, and Writing: 1 – 1:45 PM Stop by  New Hampshire Institute of Art (NHIA)  – French Hall  148 Concord St.  for activities in collaborative storytelling, poetry, and writing! Have fun making silly or serious stories and get inspired!

Story hour:  1 – 2 PM Henry Wilson Elementary School 401 Wilson Street Manchester Grades 2 -5

Beech Street Elementary School: 1:00 PM Read aloud with New Hampshire First Lady Valerie Sununu. – FULL

Fisher Cats Read-Aloud with Fungo:  2 PM atNortheast Delta Dental Stadium 169 S. Commercial Street

Music Craft Afternoon: 2 – 4 PM   West Manchester Branch Library, Children’s Room

Drop in to make a musical instruments from everyday items.  For preschool to grade 5.
