Friday’s rain made another appearance on Saturday, but it held off long enough for the Trenton Thunder to earn a 13-4 victory over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats.

Jose Fernandez pitched to three Trenton batters in the sixth, but couldn’t record an out before play concluded for the day.

Saturday’s contest saw just over half an hour of delays and an overwhelming Trenton offense.

The visitors put five on the board in the second off three hits and three walks and scored seven in the fifth after 14 men came up to the plate.

Trenton ended the day with 10 hits, four coming from Jorge Mateo’s four at-bats. Mateo had four RBIs, as did Tito Polo, with Polo finishing 2-for-2 with a pair of walks on his first day after promotion from Advanced-A Tampa.

Every Trenton batter except for Rashad Crawford came across the plate at least once, he was also the only Thunder batter not to reach base.

All-Star selection Conner Greene had his worst showing of the year by far, on the hook for eight earned runs and an unearned run in his four innings of work, walking eight.

Greene (4-6) allowed five of Trenton’s ten hits and Alonzo Gonzalez gave up four more during the Thunder’s explosion in the fifth.

New Hampshire got some offense of its own early on, with Danny Jansen, Jonathan Davis and Richard Urena coming across the plate.

However, the Fisher Cats could only muster four more hits over the next four innings, with Trenton starter Yefry Ramirez firmly in control.

Like Greene, Ramirez was selected as an Eastern League All-Star on Friday. But that’s where the similarities end.

While Ramirez (8-3) allowed two more hits than Greene, he managed to stay in the contest for all five of New Hampshire’s half-innings at the plate, earning his first complete game of the year.

Thanks to Friday’s rainout, Sunday holds a doubleheader between the two teams in Manchester. Expected Game One starters include New Hampshire’s Shane Dawson (1-8, 5.93 ERA) and Trenton’s Zack Littell (2-0, 0.00)
