MERRIMACK,  NH – New Hampshire State Police Troop B was notified of a serious motor vehicle crash Sunday night that had just occurred on the F.E. Everett Turnpike in the Town of Merrimack at approximately 9:17 p.m.  Initial on scene investigation indicates that a Toyota Avalon, driven by Daniel O’Connor-D’Amico, 18, was traveling southbound when the vehicle lost control and struck the center barrier just south of the Exit 10 area.  As the five occupants exited the vehicle to assess the situation, a Subaru Legacy, driven by Nicholas Beauchemin, 32, struck the Toyota Avalon and one of its occupants, identified as Owen Halverson, 18.  As a result of injuries sustained, Halverson was pronounced deceased on scene.

At the request of the New Hampshire State Police Troop B, the New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction (C.A.R.) Unitresponded to the scene and assumed control of the investigation.  Due to the collision, the F.E. Everett Turnpike was closed for approximately four hours and traffic was diverted around the collision.  The New Hampshire State Police were assisted on scene by the Merrimack and Nashua Police Departments, the Merrimack and Nashua Fire Departments, and the New Hampshire Department of Transportation.

At this time it does not appear that alcohol was a factor in this crash however all aspects remain under investigation.  Anyone that may have further information related to this crash, please contact TFC Michael Pelletier at 603-223-8699 or email at michael.pelletier@dos.nh.gov.
