Teen charged with 2 counts arson in connection with Hanover Street fires

MANCHESTER, NH – At approximately 12:20 a.m. on August 16, Officer Roscoe was dispatched to 121 Hanover St. to assist the Manchester Fire Department with a small fire in the rear of the building. Due to safety concerns, residents of the building were evacuated.

The building sustained minor damage and the residents were allowed back in after fire officials deemed it safe. During the investigation of the circumstances surrounding the fire, a suspect was developed, later identified as Tyrell Rand, 19, of Manchester. At approximately 2:30 a.m. Officer Roscoe was patrolling in the area of Hanover Street when he heard a commotion coming from the rear of 149 Hanover St. Upon arrival he located two people attempting to put out a fire in a trash can. MFD was called and quickly extinguished the second fire.

Officers were able to locate a Rand in the area, who matched the description from the earlier incident. During the subsequent investigation they were able to develop probable cause to arrest Rand in the incidents. He was charged with two counts of arson and also possession of prescription drugs that were located after he was arrested.

He was scheduled to appear in Hillsborough County Superior Court-North on August 16, 2018.
