MANCHESTER, NH — This year, New Hampshire broadcasters gave us award-winning coverage of a Manchester hotel standoff and a tragic fatal accident in the North Country. There were fun features by Fritz and creative ads by radio and television production crews. These are just some of the recipients of the 2019 Granite Mike Awards, presented Oct. 17 at the Executive Court Banquet Facility.
Kim Ashley, radio host for WGXL, and WMUR TV’s Fritz Wetherbee received the radio and television Air Personality awards. WZID’s NH in the Morning with Neal and Marga won First Place in the Morning Show Team category. Individuals and stations submitted 231 entries in 20 categories. The work was judged by the Alaska Broadcasters Association. WMUR TV and WLKZ-FM were named the television and radio Stations of the Year respectively.
NHAB presented the 2019 Broadcaster of the Year award to WMUR News Director Alisha McDevitt, who has spent her entire professional broadcast career with the state’s largest TV station. Alisha started as an intern from the University of New Hampshire and was hired by the station in 1995. She worked her way through the ranks from producer to the top job in the newsroom, where she has served with distinction for a decade.

Established in 1954, the New Hampshire Association of Broadcasters is the only voluntary, statewide trade organization serving the Granite State’s over-the-air radio and television stations. It assists members with general and broadcast-specific business challenges through educational seminars, legal hotlines, lobbying (in-state and on Capitol Hill), and additional opportunities to receive industry-specific assistance, locate helpful resources, and network with fellow broadcasters.
