The evening’s only goal came on a power play 9:19 into the third period. There, Maine’s Jason Salvaggio took a shot from the right point, which was deflected by teammate Ryan Ferrill past the glove of Monarchs goaltender Charles Williams.

Williams stopped 28 other shots on the evening, with Maine goaltender Brandon Halverson ending with 43 saves. Halverson’s effort provided the first shutout in franchise history.

Monarchs captain David Kolomatis will serve as a captain for the Eastern Conference in Monday’s All-Star game in Toledo. Meanwhile, Manchester hits the ice again next Friday at 7:15 p.m. with another contest in Portland.
