MANCHESTER, NH – A city man was arrested Thursday for reckless conduct after allegedly fleeing police in his vehicle and nearly hitting a pedestrian near Ash and Blodgett streets.

Reginald Baudin, 45, of Manchester, was driving a white Infinity sedan at about 5:25 p.m. on Oct. 13 when Officer Matthew McDonald observed him run a red light  in the area of Hanover and Union streets. Officer McDonald activated his emergency lights in an attempt to pull over the car.

Baudin initially drove approximately five miles per hour on Union Street, but failed to stop for the officer. He turned on to Lowell Street from Union Street, while increasing his speed. He drove northerly (the wrong way) on Ash Street and crossed Bridge Street while continuing north on Ash Street. Baudin reached speeds of 40-45 miles per hour, so the officer terminated the pursuit after Baudin narrowly missed a pedestrian on Ash Street at Blodgett Street.

Officer McDonald stopped to speak with the pedestrian, identified as John Fosher, 47, who said he was shaken but unharmed. Meanwhile, Baudin allegedly sped away from the area.  Baudin was spotted by another officer in the area of Bridge Street and Derryfield Park, about an hour after the original pursuit was terminated.

Officer Ryan Boyton spotted Baudin at 6:32 p.m.as he drove in the Infinity westerly on Bridge Street. Officer Boyton activated his emergency lights as Baudin attempted to evade him by driving in the east-bound lane. Baudin stopped due to the high volume of traffic and was taken into custody. Officer Boyton located brass knuckles on the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

Baudin was charged with: reckless conduct; felon in possession of a dangerous weapon; and two counts of disobeying a police officer. He was set to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on October 14, 2016.
