MANCHESTER, NH – Manchester Police responded to Citizens Bank, 1550 Elm St., at approximately 9:25 a.m. on Oct. 27 for a bank robbery. The robber allegedly claimed to have a weapon, so the bank teller provided an undisclosed amount of cash before the robber fled on foot.

Officer Adrianne Davenport observed a man fleeing the area toward the Merrimack River before he disappeared into a culvert. Officers Benjamin Foster and Aaron Stone noticed the suspect hiding inside of the culvert. Manchester Fire Department personnel arrived on scene and provided a ladder so the suspect could exit the frigid water.

Kenneth Rawson, 33, was arrested and charged with the bank robbery as soon as he climbed out of the culvert. He is being treated at an area hospital due to the frigid temperatures of the water.

Details are limited at this time as the investigation is ongoing. We’ll update the story as we get more information.
