MANCHESTER, NH – Police deployed its SWAT team to a Joliette Street residence on the city’s West Side Friday, after a man was brought to the Elliot Hospital with a stab wounds, and authorities were advised there may be more victims.
The victim, described by police as an adult male, arrived to the Elliot Hospital at approximately 11:30 a.m. by private vehicle on June 16. A short time later, based on preliminary investigation, a police SWAT team was sent to a first-floor apartment at 241 Joliette St.
At approximately 12:45 p.m. police surrounded the house and ordered the occupants out while communicating over the loud speaker of the Bearcat.
A person from the second floor in a different apartment, unrelated to the incident, came out with his hands up and cooperated with police, but was not involved in the incident. The SWAT team continued to search the house, including the attic and basement, with police search dogs and SWAT officers.
No one has been arrested at this time but MPD believes this is not a random crime and there is no reason for the public to be concerned about their safety.
According to Manchester Captain Mark SanClemente, the SWAT vehicle was utilized not knowing what they faced, but as a precaution to determine if there were more victims. The investigation will now be taken over by the department’s investigation division. Police say the scene has been secured and they will seek a search warrant to return with a crime scene investigative unit.
No further information was immediately available about the stab victim, whose injuries were considered non-life threatening.
