LONDONDERRY, NH – New Hampshire yogurt manufacturer Stonyfield Farms is up for sale.

In a statement by the yogurt company’s parent company Danone, Chief Executive Officer Emmanuel Faber said the sale is part of an agreement to satisfy concerns by the Antitrust Division of the U.S. Department of Justice over the potential for a dairy monopoly by the company, based in France, which is buying WhiteWave Food, makers of Silk, So Delicious, Horizon Organic, Wallaby Organic and other products.

“As part of the agreement in principle with the DOJ, we made the strategic decision to divest Stonyfield as it allows us to take a major step towards completing the WhiteWave transaction expeditiously,” said Emmanuel Faber, Chief Executive Officer of Danone “This is a good outcome as it addresses the DOJ’s concerns and enables Danone to shortly begin to capture the benefits of the combination, and the value creation announced last July.”

Danone reported revenues of $370 million for Stonyfield in 2016, according to Investopedia. The Paris-based company is finalizing negotiations to purchased WhiteWave for $10 billion.
