MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm homecoming weekend was spoiled by the rushing attack of the Stonehill Skyhawks, as the annual Battle for the Ol’ Bronze Hawk favored the visitors by a score of 38-14 on Saturday afternoon.

Still searching for the first win of the season, Saint Anselm could not contain the first quarter explosion of Stonehill sophomore Justin Felder (Springfield Gardens, N.Y.) and his three early touchdowns.

Phillip Tran (San Jose, Calif) started for the Hawks, but managed just 34 yards through the air before he made way halfway through the second quarter for senior and former starter Eric Fairweather (Londonderry, N.H.)

Fairweather finished with 168 passing yards and a touchdown pass to junior Franklin Holgate (Easton, Mass), also carrying the ball 13 times for 68 yards. Sophomore back Christian Matthews-Byrd (Saddle Brook, NJ) took off for a 79 yard score to also help stop the bleeding. Byrd’s touchdown run was the fifth longest in Saint Anselm history.

The Skyhawks now move up to 2-1 on the year. On the defensive side of the ball, junior Casey Earle totaled 14 tackles with two and a half tackles for losses to help take the win.

Next weekend, the Hawks (0-3) head to New York, as they take on the Pace Setters (2-1), who just recently came off a 52-7 obliteration of Franklin Pierce University Saturday.
