Steeplegate Mall shooting ruled murder-suicide

CONCORD, NH – Police have identified the man and woman who died in a shooting on Wednesday in the Steeplegate Mall parking lot following autopsy results.

At about 8 p.m. Concord Police responded to a report of gunshots outside of the Steeplegate Mall. Upon arrival, they found Alexander Thorne, 22, who was pronounced dead at the scene. The woman, Zoe Desmarais, 21, was transported to Concord Hospital where she later died.

Associate Medical Examiner Dr. Christine James has determined that the cause of Ms. Desmarais’ death was a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was homicide. Mr. Thorne’s cause of death was determined to be a gunshot wound to the head, and the manner of death was suicide.

No additional information is expected to be released until the investigation has concluded.
