MERRIMACK, NH — On January 27, 2018 at approximately 4:50 p.m., the NH State Police received a report of a rollover motor vehicle accident on the Everett Turnpike southbound in the area of mile marker 15.

Troopers responded to the scene along with the Merrimack Police and Fire Departments. Two vehicles were involved in the crash: a 2006 Toyota Corolla, which was up against the guardrail in the center median, which was operator by Heather Vitale, 31, of Tilton, who had one passenger, her young son; and a 2002 Volkswagen Passat, which was on its roof off the right side of the roadway. The Passat was operated by Dr. Gregory Tracy, DDS, 63, of Goffstown.

Preliminary investigation revealed the Passat was traveling southbound and sideswiped the Corrolla, causing the Passat to skid across the right lane and into the breakdown lane before hitting the dirt embankment and sliding onto its roof. Tracy was trapped inside the vehicle.

Merrimack Fire and EMS attempted to render aid to Tracy, but advised Troopers at the scene that he had sucummed to the injuries received in the collision.

Vitale and her young child were transported to the Elliot Hospital as a precautionary measure.

The Turnpike was shutdown for approximately 45 minutes while Merrimack Fire and EMS worked to remove Tracy from the vehicle.

On Jan. 29 Goffstown Police Captain Kerry Stechkowych confirmed that the victim, Dr. Tracy, was a longtime Goffstown dentist.

Anyone that may have further information related to this incident is asked to contact Trooper Skafidas at 603-672- 3333
