Women’s Volleyball

The Penmen nearly dropped their first and second sets against LeMoyne, but ended winning both (25-23,25-22) and took the third set by 12 points for a Friday victory.

Freshman Juliana Pacini (Sao Paolo, Brazil) had 14 kills and 10 digs, with senior Joanne Coffey (Merrimack, N.H.) contributing seven kills and 18 assists while obtaining a .636 personal hitting percentage.

SNHU (12-9, 4-3 Northeast-10) has now won six of its last eight and four of its last five matches.

The Penmen are back in action Saturday (Nov. 2) at 2 p.m. when they play host to the College of Saint Rose at the Stan Spirou Field House.

Men’s Ice Hockey

Despite power play goals from junior Kyle Galloway (Sugar Hill, Ga.) and freshman James Nash (Hampton, N.H.), the Penmen fell 6-3 to Bryn Athn at home on Friday.

SNHU’s other goal was shorthanded, and it came from freshman Andy Somerville (Medford, Mass.) with just under three minutes left in the third period.

The six goals were the most allowed by the Penmen since Feb. 11, 2017.

The Penmen (0-1-0) and Lions will play again at 1:50 p.m. on Saturday, November 2 at The Ice Den in Hooksett, N.H.

Baseball

The Penmen won’t return to the diamond for several months, but the SNHU baseball team hosted several Major League Scouts on Tuesday afternoon.

The Oakland Athletics drafted 2018 graduate Jake Walkinshaw in the 36th round of the Major League  Baseball First-Year Player Draft last year, with nearly a dozen other draftees coming from the Penmen program over the last decade.
