The Red Sox won the bidding for Moncada, a 21-year-old second baseman from Cuba, with a $31.5 million signing bonus last February. He began the season with Advanced-A Salem, and hit .307 with four homers and 36 stolen bases in 61 games. Moncada was called up to Double-A Portland on June 21.

Benintendi was taken with the seventh overall pick in 2015 after winning the Baseball America College Player of the Year award with Arkansas. The 21-year-old has quickly risen to the Double-A ranks, hitting .276 with 12 doubles and four homers in 39 games in Portland.

On Tuesday, both players were selected to represent the Red Sox in the 2016 MLB Futures Game.
