MANCHESTER, N.H. – After months of anticipation, Southern New Hampshire University’s (SNHU) South Commercial Street Garage is now open.
The facility was christened on Monday morning and officially opened at noon, with SNHU monitoring traffic flows over the next few weeks as its employees begin to use the garage.
“We’re thrilled to officially open our new parking garage, which will provide a parking solution for SNHU employees and the city of Manchester,” said Paul LeBlanc, president and CEO of SNHU. “This parking garage is the first new building in the Millyard in 122 years and reaffirms our commitment to the city of Manchester.”
Prior to the garage’s opening, SNHU employees working in the Millyard received shuttle rides from various parking lots across the city.
The garage has approximately 1,700 spaces and is six stories tall, costing approximately $34 million to construct.
Use of the garage is free to SNHU employees and is limited to use by SNHU employees only during business hours. However, the garage is expected to become open to the public during non-business hours and before nearby scheduled events in the future, with pricing for public use yet to be determined.
