HOOKSETT, NH – A shorthanded goal from freshman Andy Somerville allowed Southern New Hampshire University to escape with a 4-4 tie against Assumption on Tuesday night.

The Penmen had a one-goal deficit heading into the first intermission, until senior Chris Moquin (Hooksett, NH) tied the contest 10:04 in the second period.

After another Assumption goal, freshman Joe Fiorino (Willow Grove, Pa.) tied up the contest a second time with just under 16 minutes left to play, a deadlock that the Penmen held until an Assumption power play just a few minutes later.

The goal from Somerville (Medford, Mass.) occurred 4:05 after that final Assumption power play goal, with neither team changing the total in the overtime period.

In addition to Somerville, Fiorino and Moquin, Charlie Davis provided a power play goal for SNHU just over two minutes into the first period.

Junior Kurt Gutting (Weymouth, Mass.) stopped 32 shots on the evening.

SNHU is back in action Friday (Feb. 1) when it entertains Post University at the Ice Den at 7:10 p.m.
