MANCHESTER, N.H. – The Southern New Hampshire University Penmen saw their men’s and women’s basketball teams get back into the win column on Saturday night, posting wins against in-state rival Franklin Pierce.

Senior Kylie Lorenzen (Holliston, Mass.) led the way for the Penmen in the women’s contest, helping SNHU grab a 79-56 victory.

The Penmen outscored their guests in every quarter, but pulled away with a 19-9 fourth quarter, including 13 straight points to end the contest.

On the men’s side, SNHU survived a late scare to post an 82-75 win.

The Penmen entered the half with a 41-29 lead, but the Ravens clawed their way back, whittling the lead down to three with just over two minutes to play.

A three from senior Daquaise Andrews (Queens, N.Y.) stopped the visitors’ momentum as Franklin Pierce would go just 1-for-7 from the field after that point.

Andrews posted 14 points, just behind the 16 from teammate Eammon Joyce (Medford, Mass.). Junior Doyin Fadojutimi (Temple Hills, Md.) led all scorers, putting up 26 points for Franklin Pierce.

The men return to action on Sunday, Dec. 30 (3:30 p.m.) to take on Felician University while the women face Mercy College on Saturday, Dec. 29 at 1 p.m.
