WEST SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Southern New Hampshire Penmen have to wait until 2019 to get another W, dropping their final men’s ice hockey game of the 2018 calendar year in a 4-1 decision to Western New England University.

Sophomore Kyle Galloway (Sugar Hill, Ga.) scored the only Penmen goal, a power play effort 6:06 into the third period.

That put the game back within a goal after scores from senior Chris Malone (Stouffville, Ont.) and senior Matt O’Dea (Orland Park, Ill.). However, the Golden Bears took back their two-goal lead just a minute after Galloway’s effort thanks to a shorthanded goal by senior Steven Beck (Milton, N.Y.)

O’Dea added an empty netter with just under two minutes to play to provide the game its final scoreline.

SNHU returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 12 when they open the second half of the season at Becker College at 7:00 p.m. The next home contest for SNHU is Friday, Jan. 18 (7:10 p.m.) when it plays host to Franklin Pierce in the second game of the regular-season series at the Ice Den in Hooksett.
