MANCHESTER, NH – The Penmen of Southern New Hampshire had plenty to be thankful for as they capped Thankgsiving weekend, earning a mixed-gender sweep on Sunday.
The women began the day with an 85-51 rout of Chestnut Hill. After an early deficit, the Penmen went on a 15-2 run, followed by nine straight points earlier in the second quarter to open up a 33-12 lead at halftime.
SNHU continued to dominate throughout the contest, led by Kylie Lorenzen’s team-high 13 points.
On the men’s side, SNHU needed a pair of overtimes to finally get past Post, 99-91.
After seven lead changes in the first half alone, the Penmen and the Eagles continued see-saw back and forth until senior Daquise Andrews spearheaded a 14-3 rally to open the second overtime period.
Andrews finished with a career-high 37 points, with Ryogo Sumion grabbing 16 points and six rebounds for the Penmen.
Both the men and women return to action on Wednesday when they will face St. Anselm’s at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m. respectively.
