MANCHESTER, NH –  A man was arrested for armed robbery after allegedly swapping his worn sneakers for new ones at Footlocker, then pulling a knife on the store clerk, who caught up with him in the food court.

But it didn’t end there.

Police say Christopher Molis, 28, of Manchester, walked into the Footlocker at the Mall of New Hampshire at 1 p.m. on Aug. 22 and allegedly left with a brand new pair of sneakers before the store employee caught up to him at the food court.

The store employee tussled with Molis over the sneakers, and Molis ultimately removed the stolen sneakers from his feet before pulling a knife on the clerk.

The clerk immediately backed away as Molis fled the mall and attempted to leave on a mountain bike. However, an employee from another business grabbed the bike to prevent Molis from fleeing the area. The shoeless suspect ran north across the highway, toward South Porter Street, where he disappeared. Officers retrieved the bicycle, a box cutter and the sneakers Molis he originally wore into the store outside of the food court entrance.

Patrol officers investigated the incident and prepared an arrest warrant for armed robbery). Molis was subsequently arrested at his Weston Road home earlier this morning.

Molis retreated into his residence when he observed officers outside of the home at 10:15 a.m., so he was additionally charged with resisting arrest/detention and placed on a 72-hour hold for probation/parole. Lt. Brian O’Keefe confirmed that officers on that beat were familiar with Molis and, combined with other evidence, were able to identify him and make the arrest.

He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on August 23, 2017.
