HARTFORD, Conn.  – Kevin Smith slugged two home runs and Riley Adams got another as the Fisher Cats earned a 4-2 victory over the Hartford Yard Goats on Friday night.

All three homers came off reigning Eastern League Pitcher of the Week Jack Wynkoop, who allowed just four other hits over his seven-inning appearance.

Three New Hampshire’s four runs came in the second, with Smith bringing home Chad Spanberger on the first of his two homers.

Nash Knight also collected two hits for New Hampshire, including a double.

Hartford collected both of their runs early, first on a one-run homer in the second by Alan Trejo and then when Colton Welker came across the plate following a wild pitch by Yennsy Diaz in the third.

Diaz settled down, holding Hartford to just six hits over five innings of work to climb to 8-6 on the year.

Danny Young retired the side in the ninth to pick up his second save.

Wynkoop was the loser, falling to 6-10 for 2019 in Eastern League play. He is now 1-7 lifetime against the Fisher Cats.

The series continues on Saturday as Patrick Murphy (4-7, 4.52 ERA) takes the mound for New Hampshire against Hartford’s Brandon Gold (7-5, 3.70 ERA).
