Skate park arrest yields recovered stolen firearms and drugs

MANCHESTER, NH – Two men were arrested Aug. 23 after an anonymous report of a someone spotted at the skate park with a military-style weapon.

At 3:20 p.m. Manchester Police received the tip, that someone was spotted at the skate park with a Mac-10 style rifle. Officers responded to the park and located additional witnesses who provided further description of the individuals, and stated that they were waving the gun around and making people at the skate park uncomfortable.

Officers located the suspects exiting the park and crossing Beech Street heading toward Beech Street School. As officers began to approach, one subject, who was later identified as Alfredo James, 23, of Manchester, take a backpack off and hand it to a male juvenile who rode off on a bicycle.  He was detained near the skate park. Officers were able to locate the juvenile male (age 16) and detained him a short distance away from the park as he tried to flee.

Through the field investigation a quantity of alprazolam, crack cocaine, heroin/fentanyl and two firearms were recovered, one of which was reported as being stolen out of Manchester.  A Ruger LC9, 9mm pistol was recovered as was an AA Arms AP-9 (Tec-9) style pistol with extended magazine. James was charged with reckless conduct and falsifying physical evidence.  The juvenile was arrested and charged with receiving stolen property, possession with intent to distribute drugs (2 counts), felonious use of a firearm, and resisting arrest.

As officers were making the arrest several people started to gather and one subject, later identified as Jose Polanco-Diaz, 22, of Manchester attempted to interfere with the arrest, according to police, and refused to leave the area. He was subsequently arrested and charged with disorderly conduct.
