Size matters: Store clerk scares off knife-wielding robber using bigger knife

MANCHESTER, NH – Size matters in this case, where a store clerk thwarted a would-be robber armed with a knife after pulling out a bigger blade.

According to police, On Oct. 25 an attempted robbery occurred at Down the Block Convenience, 167 Hanover St. Officers responded to the store at 11:35 p.m. shortly after the clerk contacted 911. She told police she was standing behind the counter when a man walked into the store and demanded cash. She said the assailant brandished a knife with a three-inch blade, so she pulled out a larger knife which caused him to flee the store. The robber left without cash or property from the store.

He is described as a white male approximately 5-foot-10 inches tall, 180 pounds, and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt, white T-shirt over his face, a black hat with a Phillies “P” logo, and blue jeans.

The clerk said he fled on foot from the store.
