MANCHESTER, NH – Six people were displaced by a fire Thursday on Massabesic Street.
At about 2:40 p.m. several calls came in to Manchester Fire Department reporting a fire at 42 Massabesic St. Upon arrival firefighters could see fire coming from the left side of the building. Crews searched the building while companies went to work on the fire. Truck 1 set up on Lake Avenue to reach the building due to the tight access on Massabesic Street.
Firefighters opened up the wall, roof and ceiling to expose and extinguish the fire. According to District Fire Chief Al Poulin said the building is a “tax payer” style building with two apartments above a retail space.
No occupants were injured, but six people were displaced by the fire. The American Red Cross was called to the scene to assist.
Fire investigators are looking into the cause, but the fire appeared to be concentrated around a ventilation fan on the outside wall.
