Crash shuts down I-93 south, 3 injured

MANCHESTER, NH – A major accident snarled traffic right around rush hour Friday, seriously injuring three people and requiring a medical helicopter to land.

At about 4:30 p.m.  a two-car accident was reported on Interstate 93 southbound, approximately two miles south of the 293 split on the Manchester/Londonderry line.

Three people were reportedly taken from the scene with serious injuries, two by ambulance and one by helicopter. A fourth person was taken to the Elliot Hospital with minor injuries.

Due to the crash the highway was closed for approximately one hour, with traffic backing up more than 10 miles. As of 5:30 p.m. one lane of travel had been opened.
