HOOKSETT, NHScott McGilvray, 51, of Hooksett, passed away peacefully on March 21, 2017, surrounded by his family at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston.

Born in Concord on January 20, 1966, he was the son of John “Bud” and Mary (Duprey) McGilvray. He attended Concord High School, Fitchburg State College and Franklin Pierce College.

Scott was a dedicated husband, father, son, brother and friend. He was a NH State Senator for District 16, NEA-NH President, and former MEA President. He had taught social studies at Manchester Memorial High School for over 20 years where he was also the head football coach, bringing the Crusaders to their first playoff berth in over three decades under his leadership. He loved his family and friends more than words can say and helped countless others throughout his life.

Scott is survived by his wife of 23 years, Patti (Downton) McGilvray; two daughters, Meaghan and Molly McGilvray; his mother of Concord; a brother Keith McGilvray and his wife Ami; in-laws, uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews and cousins.

A memorial gathering will take place at Phaneuf Funeral Homes and Crematorium, 243 Hanover St, Manchester on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 2 to 5 pm.
