A lawsuit filed by the daughter of a 90-year-old woman, who died in February of 2019, after her roommate at St. Teresa Rehabilitation and Nursing Center turned off her oxygen, was settled Tuesday in Hillsborough County Superior Court Northern District. READ MORE
Assistant Hillsborough County Attorney Jonathan Cowal dismissed the “false public alarm” charge citing “prosecutor’s discretion” the same day as the plea. The court file notes that on July 13, 2021 – the same day – the grand jury issued a “no true bill,” that is, it declined to indict her. READ MORE
Former state Senator Jeffrey Woodburn was sentenced to serve 60 days in jail Tuesday for biting his ex-fiancee’s arm and breaking the door to her home almost three years ago, but it is unlikely he will see the inside of a cell any time soon as he is appealing the convictions to the state Supreme Court.
