CONCORD, NH — Members of Law Enforcement and the civilian community turned out to honor those public servants who have lost their lives. The memorial ceremony was held in Concord May 22 at the Law Enforcement Memorial on State Street on the grounds of the Legislative Office Building.
More than 1,000 people showed up to remember the officers including the families of the fallen officers. Family members were given a red flower to place in the wreath in remembrance of the loved ones and peers.
Speakers included Governor Margaret Wood Hassan, and Attorney General Joseph Foster, who read the Roll of Honor, recognizing the names of New Hampshire’s 46 fallen police officers.
This year, the names of 273 officers killed in the line of duty are being added to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, DC. These 273 officers include 127 officers who were killed during 2014, plus 146 officers who died in previous years but whose stories of sacrifice had been lost to history until now.
The New Hampshire Law Enforcement Officers’ Memorial Committee is still seeking donations for the perpetual care fund and donations of any amount would be greatly appreciated.
Checks may be made payable to:
