MANCHESTER, N.H. – Saint Anselm College claimed Queen City bragging rights on Wednesday night, with men’s and women’s basketball victories over Southern New Hampshire University.

The evening began with a 71-62 result in the women’s game, with SNHU’s Kylie Lorezen (Holliston, Mass.) leading all scorers with 29 points.

Although the visitors trailed by just two points at the half, Saint Anselm opened the second half with a 12-4 run, building a margin that held for the rest of the contest.

In the men’s game, SNHU fell to the #20 ranked Hawks, 71-67. SNHU held a six-point lead at the half, seeing it grow as large as 11 points before seeing it eventually evaporate with just 86 seconds left in the contest.

SNHU Senior Daquaise Andrews (Queens, N.Y.) led all scorers with 30 points while the Penmen got double-doubles from juniors Eamonn Joyce (Medford, Mass.) and Shawn Montague (Yorktown Heights, N.Y.)

The Penmen return to action Saturday, Feb. 23 (1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.) when they take on in-state rival Franklin Pierce University.
