Men’s Soccer

Saint Anselm freshman Jackson Bukunt (Upton, Mass.) provided the only goal in a truncated Tuesday contest in Colechester, Vt.

The Hawks’ contest with Saint Michael’s College was delayed due to lightning with 2:43 left in the first half, with the delay lasting an hour.

Another delay occurred just under 68 minutes into the contest, just short of the 70 minutes needed under NCAA guidelines for a match to be deemed official.

There is no word yet on the fate of the game. Meanwhile, the Hawks next face American International on Saturday, Oct. 5 (3 p.m.).

Women’s Tennis

Saint Anselm didn’t win any matches in their Tuesday loss to Stonehill. The Hawks managed to win just five games in singles play with junior Parker Petruney (Hopkinton, Mass.) picking up two of them in her 6-1, 6-1 defeat.

The Hawks will take on Smith College, an NCAA Division III opponent, on Saturday, Oct. 5 at high noon in Northampton, Mass.

Women’s Volleyball

On the brink of elimination, the Hawks bounced back to force their Tuesday contest with Bentley to five sets. However, four late attacking errors proved costly as Bentley left with the win.

Senior Catie McCarthy (Warrenton, Va.) posted 16 kills for the Hawks, recording her fifth double-double this season with 12 digs on defense. Sophomore Nique D’Ancona (Corte Madera, Calif.) had her own double-double as she recorded 13 kills on 42 swings with 16 digs. After being named the NE10 Setter and Rookie of the Week, freshman Michelle Henwood (Guaynabo, Puerto Rico) assisted 41 of the team’s 55 kills. Freshman Caroline Belmontez (San Diego, Calif.) led the team in digs with 22.

The Hawks hit the road on Saturday, Oct. 5 as they travel to Pace for a 1 p.m. dual.
