MANCHESTER, NH – Fisher Cats southpaw Matt Boyd struck out seven over five innings, but New Britain Rock Cats rallied for a 2-1 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

New Britan (24-7) starter Shane Carle improved to 5-0, allowing one run in seven innings as his club won for the 11th consecutive time. Austin House finished up the win working around a walk to Jack Murphy in the bottom of the ninth for his 12th save.

The Fisher Cats (16-16) loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning on singles by Dwight Smith Jr. and Matt Newman and a walk to Kevin Nolan. K. C. Hobson’s groundout scored Smith for a 1-0 lead.

The Rock Cats scored an unearned run in the top of the fifth inning to tie the game. Juan Ciriaco ripped a two-out triple and Dean Espy walked. Ciriaco scored when Andy Fermin couldn’t handle a hot shot grounder off the bat of Mike Tauchman.

New Hampshire starter Boyd did not figure in the decision, working the first five innings. He allowed four hits, walked one and struck out seven.

New Britain earned the win in the top of the seventh inning against reliever Scott Barnes (0-1). Jayson Langfels was hit by pitch, moved to second on a bunt and to third on a single by Ciriaco. Dean Espy singled in the game-winning run.

The series and homestand concludes with an Educational Day sponsored by Energy North Propane on Wednesday at 10:35 a.m. RHP Casey Lawrence (2-3, 3.41) will start for the Fisher Cats against New Britain LHP Carlos Hernandez (1-0, 4.24).
