Richard Bourque, 77: Owner of Bourque Heating Co., gentle, honest, sense of humor, adored family, his dogs

MANCHESTER, NH – Richard A. “Dick” Bourque, 77, of Manchester, died August 3, 2017 at Elliot Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. 

Born in Manchester on September 26, 1939, he was the son of Allyre A. Bourque and Jeannette (Heath) Mailhot. He graduated from Bishop Bradley High School and served in the US Army National Guard before being honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class E3 in 1961. He was the owner and president of A. Bourque Heating Co., Inc., and Bourque Oil Co.; also a master electrician and union sheet metal worker. 

Dick was an incredibly strong but gentle man. He was extremely loyal and honest, and had a great sense of humor. Dick was an avid follower of world events and had a passion for technology and gadgets. He enjoyed his motorcycles, camping, boating, waterskiing, and traveling with his family in their motor home. Dick adored his family and loved their dogs. Above all, he will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, cousin, uncle and friend.

 Family includes his beloved wife of 42 years, Karen E. (McQueeney) Bourque of Manchester; two sons, Richard J. Bourque and wife Karyn A. Bourque of Manchester, Sean E. Bourque and husband Marc A. May of Derry, two grandsons, Richard A. Bourque and Rykar J. Bourque of Manchester; one brother, Donald P. Bourque and wife Linda Bourque of Manchester; extended family including Jason A. Matot of Manchester, and Ben Spellman of S. Hamilton, MA; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was predeceased by both parents; and two sisters, Janet Lavigne, and Barbara Mailhot.

 SERVICES: Calling hours are Thursday Aug. 10 from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lambert Funeral Home & Crematory, 1799 Elm St., corner of North St., Manchester. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 am on Friday at St. Peter Church, 567 Manchester Rd., Auburn. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Dick’s name to: Friends of Manchester Animal Shelter, 490 Dunbarton Rd., Manchester, NH 03102.
