MANCHESTER, NH – Today’s the day that the official ribbon is cut and the city’s first bike share program launches. Bike Manchester and Zagster, Inc., are announcing a partnership that will allow residents and visitors to rent and ride bikes across Manchester.

Bike Share Manchester will debut at 4 p.m., Monday, June 5, 2017, with a kickoff ceremony at Veterans Park in downtown Manchester. Made possible by sponsors Southern New Hampshire University, Puritan Backroom, McLane Middleton, Martignetti Companies, and the Granite YMCA, Bike Share Manchester bolsters the city’s overall transportation network, solves for last-mile trips, and makes Manchester a healthier and more bike-friendly community. Notable participants in the event will include

● Ted Gatsas, Mayor, City of Manchester

● John Harris, President & CEO, Granite YMCA

● Hal Jordan, President & CEO Emeritus, Granite YMCA

● Paul LeBlanc, President, Southern New Hampshire University

● Chris Pappas, Co-Owner, Puritan Backroom

● Cathy Schmidt, Executive Director, McLane Middleton

● Mike Skelton, President & CEO, Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce

● Dean Williams, Executive Vice President, Martignetti Companies

This program extends the benefits of bike sharing – long considered exclusively a big-city amenity – to smaller cities. But unlike big-city systems, in which riders must drop off bikes at designated stations for every stop, the built-in lock on every Zagster bike gives users the freedom to ride as long as they want, wherever they want. Offering connections with other forms of transit, Bike Share Manchester promises to ease parking challenges downtown and in the Millyard, but it also unlocks vast recreational opportunities for exercise and fun.
