We prepaid $20.80 for $30 in food and drinks, so when the tab came, we paid the additional $11.40. Total paid: $32.20, plus generous tip.

MANCHESTER, NH – It’s been about a month since my husband Jim and I last tried our new Dealici app, which crowd-sources discount prices on local restaurant tabs with a super-easy smartphone app [which you can download here, by the way.]

Sunday seemed like a good day to treat ourselves to an early dinner.

Having just picked up dessert at Dulces Bakery on the West Side, we decided we should probably eat dinner before indulging ourselves in the decadent tres leches cake we just scored.

That’s when I remembered the alerts that I’d been getting via the Dealici app on my phone. I checked to see what was available, and Brothers Restaurant had two deals going: pay $9.60 for $12 worth of food and drink, or pay $12 for $15 of food and drink. We went for the gusto, and prepaid $24 with one click of the app for $30 in food/drink credit.

We were going to go for two 16-ounce Sam Adams Cold Snaps, but after our server pointed out we could get a 60-ounce pitcher for $2 more, how could we refuse?

We happened to have banked a $3.20 earned credit from the last time we used the app, so we only prepaid $20.80 instead of $24.

Also, I found out after I checked out that I could have gotten an additional discount  but I moved too quickly to the check-out screen and forgot to look for the promo code.

Bummer.

Jim tried the Buffalo Chicken soup as one of his complimentary sides. Interesting!

Once we arrived, our server, Jamie-Lynn came to take our drink order.

Sure, what the heck: It was Sunday afternoon and we’d already done some yard work, so we asked for two Sam Adams Seasonals, which happened to be the Cold Snap, which we like. Jamie-Lynn pointed out that for just $2 more we could get a 60-ounce pitcher, so we did.

Cha-ching!

Next, we checked out the menu, which features authentic Greek dishes as well as traditional favorites. Jim chose fish and chips for $11.99, and went with buffalo chicken soup as his side dish. I opted for chicken parm for $13.99, and got a garden salad on the side.

My chicken parm with fettuccine and sauce was just the way I like it - BIG portion and delicious.

We thoroughly enjoyed the house rolls with olive oil that came with our soup and salad, and our entrees were delivered shortly after we finished.

Huge helpings of both the fish and chicken took over the giant plates, and even though we shared a little with one another, both of us were happy with our meal choices and cleaned our plates.

Jim can't resist fish 'n' chips, no matter where we go, this was three nice-sized strips of fish with zesty fries and coleslaw on the side.

When Jamie-Lynn came with the bill I mentioned we were using our Dealici deal, which I probably should have mentioned earlier. She said, “no problem,” and adjusted our bill. She told us she wasn’t that familiar with the app because she only works weekends.

In the end, here’s how the bill played out:

Total bill: $37.98 (+3.42 tax) = $41.40. Minus $30 discount (for which we prepaid $20.80) = $11.40 due at the restaurant. Total paid: $32.20. Total savings: $9.20.

Experience: The service and food were top-notch, and since Dealici partners with some of the state’s best eateries, you won’t likely be disappointed in the overall experience, no matter where you go to redeem it.

Savings: We rarely eat out these days. For one thing, our schedule makes it hard to squeeze in a dinner out on the town on weeknights. And I’m equal parts cheapskate and devoted cook. However, this was a late lunch/early dinner which means we were full for the rest of the day and skipped actual dinner. Saving more than $9 on a delicious dinner out was a good value for us. Plus, we saved even more by buying a pitcher of beer instead of buying it by the glass.

Dessert: The cake was worth every calorie.

Word to the wise: Make sure you use any promo codes available before you check out.

Tres leches cake from Dulces Bakery – got a little melty in the car while we ate dinner, but it still tasted delicious. Note to self: Next time eat dessert BEFORE dinner.

Last Word: In one dining experience we were able to support three local businesses – Dealici was the catalyst, Brothers Restaurant was the target and Dulces Bakery was the indulgent icing on the cake, literally and figuratively!
