I am a hopeless romantic and love a corny romance novel every now and then. Who better to turn to than the king of corny romance novels, Nicholas Sparks? He has brought us some of the greatest love stories in recent years, such as “The Notebook,” “A Walk To Remember,” “The Last Song,” and “The Lucky One” – and today’s pick, a 2013 gem that packs plenty of emotional moments and feelings of hope of one day finding “the one.”
I told you, I am a sucker for that kind of stuff.
“The Longest Ride” tells the story of three main characters – Luke, Sophia and Ira. Luke, a rodeo rider, and Sophia, a college student, begin an unlikely romance after an encounter with Sophia’s ex causes them to meet. It also tells the story of Ira and his wife Ruth. While multiple story lines may seem confusing, they all eventually intertwine. In a way, Ira helps Luke and Sophia deal with their issues.
There are plenty of romantic moments throughout the novel for both couples and the reader is taken back and forth between present day and the 1940s.
The story is told from the perspective of Luke, Sophia and Ira, and jumping between characters can be a little bit confusing and annoying at times, but it is still a good read.
I recommend this book to everyone, especially if you love Nicholas Sparks. I also recommend this book to hopeless romantics, like myself.
Nicholas Sparks gives readers the hope of finding someone, and I love that about his writing.
Brittany Frizzell is an avid reader. She enjoys escaping to faraway places and encountering supernatural beings. She also loves writing and spreading her love of reading to those around her. She hopes to eventually write the next great American novel.
