MANCHESTER, NH – Quick action by a Manchester Police officer prevented a car from hitting a pole on Weston Road after he noticed the driver was unconscious behind the wheel.

The driver, Taya Ethier, 29, of Londonderry, was charged with possession of a controlled drug.

At 12:05 a.m. on Jan. 19 Officer Chris Cunningham was parked on South Jewett Street when he spotted Ethier’s vehicle heading toward a pole on Weston Road. He got out of his cruiser and ran up to the vehicle, slid into the driver’s seat as he woke the woman up and slammed his foot on the brake pedal. He secured the vehicle and spoke with Ethier, who then exited the vehicle and was arrested for possession of a controlled drug, after police located .6 grams of marijuana on the seat of her vehicle.

Ethier is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Court-Manchester on February 24, 2015. She was released on $500 personal recognizance.
