MANCHESTER, NH — The Queen’s Pub is getting ready to host its first-ever two-day charity event to benefit Homes for Our Troops, a New England-based organization that builds mortgage-free adaptive homes for disabled veterans.
Pub owner Michelle Ilyadis says it’s a cause she plans to support annually, inspired by one of her servers, a student at Southern New Hampshire University, who asked for her help in organizing a fundraiser.
Although Homes for Our Troops assists disabled veterans across the U.S., Ilyadis says she’d like to focus specifically on aiding New Hampshire veterans, going forward.
She’s pulling out all the stops for a weekend of live music, dancing, and raffles, and all proceeds go directly to the cause, including a $5 cover charge at the door.
Ilyadis says although they normally don’t charge a cover, she is breaking tradition for this weekend only, and is hoping for a great turnout.
Friday night will feature the band Express Revival starting at 8 p.m. and a DJ from Rock 101 will be in the house to kick things off from 7-9 p.m. Saturday night the high-energy band Stomping Melvin will take the stage, starting at 9 p.m.
Queen’s Pub is located at 641 Elm St., and offers a full menu of freshly-prepared British pub-inspired fare, including appetizers, drinks and “sweet endings.”
