Police seek suspect in ‘hijab grab’ assault

MANCHESTER, NH — Police are looking for a man who is accused of simple assault after grabbing a woman’s hijab and pulling on it at a local bar.

Manchester Police are following up on the alleged simple assault, which took place on June 22, 2018 at The Farm restaurant, 1230 Elm St. Officer Raymond Lamy spoke with the 25-year-old victim inside of the restaurant after she called in to report the incident.

The victim stated she was seated at a table with her co-workers approximately 4:45 p.m. when an unknown man walked past her and pulled on her hijab. The man did not say anything to her prior to the incident, but pulled on the hijab long enough to cause discomfort to her chin and head.

The man released the hijab and walked toward the bar, but left the area when confronted by her co-workers. He is described as a white male, approximately 40-45 years old, approximately 5-foot-6 inches tall with dark hair. There is no further description available; however one of her co-workers took a picture of the suspect as he exited the restaurant, included here.
